I meant to ask aswell and its not a criticism in any way or a debate on working mothers, I was just curious as to the amount of people on here who manage this way of life, shopping around, markets, bulk preparing eals etc, how many work full time, as I am feeling a bit of a failure!!! I get in at 6 and could no more be bothered to stand and cook in bulk than fly to the moon!!
Weekends I dont mind doing a bit on a Sat morning but couldnt take my whole weekend up with cooking/shopping.
Just keen to know
hiya minxtress
i too am a working mother and it has taken me alot of time and determination to succeed in living the oldstyle way, i found that little changes to my day help like i now get up 1 hour earlier then everybody else and put the dinner on in the slow cooker, i leave a list on the fridge on what cant be ate (if i didnt do this then id come home to an empty fridge every night) i also place all the snacks in one of the fruit and veg drawers and i have placed a notepad on the fridge so when something is nearly finished or has been finished they can write it in that i then take the list and shop in my lunch hour, being oldstyle does take alot of work and you shouldn't feel like a failure its not something you click into over night
good luck with the challenge0 -
so glad this thread has been ressurected black saturn and pp and weezel you are all amazing :T:T i have spent this morning reading and pasting menu plans and recipes and am about to start a cupboard /freezer list to do a menu plan sort of did one last week as am following the dont throw food away (yes even as a single mum am guilty) luckily dd will eat practically anything even rubber chicken which has now been explained to her, so can experiment with everything.
to all who submit plans /recipes etc keep em coming:T.you are all so inspiring..
i have read it thru from the start and on some of it with my mouth hitting the floor i cannot understand what pleasure people get (cute an quirky) from being so damn nasty and !!!!!y...as my nan used to say ''if you cant say anything nice dont say anything at all'''
i love the os threads and always come here first so keep it up guys:D:D0 -

LOL my mum was irish and her version was "If you cant be nice, be QUIET" !0 -
sairy2005 "[rationing] worked before and we were healthier. I suppose though there would be a thriving black market and some people who could afford it would eat better than others. We would be able to tell who they were though because they would be the fat ones. "
:rotfl: I would look sooooo wealthy for once in my life !!;) :rotfl:
Seriously, portion size is a big issue. DH keeps pointing out that since I eat such "healthy crap" I should be thin but even healthy stuff isn't healthy in excess (hangs head and goes to put lock on fridge:o )To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else - means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.
