You can use his no claims bonus! He told you that you could not?
If you speak to someone at your current company and explain the situation they will transfer the no claims bonus into your name and probably the policy to.
If your currrent company won't do this get proof of your late husbands no claims bonus and take a photocopy of the death certificate to a local broker. They will have lots of companies that can transfer the no claims bonus into your name0 -
The same thing recently happened with my grandad. He got a good deal with Saga after ringing them up - and provided he prove he was on my grandmas insurance they gave him NCB.0

Its common practice in the industry, normally you just send a copy of the death certificate in to the Insurer and they will transfer the existing policy into your name which is the easiest way to do it rather than cancel and possibly have admin charges0

I don't qualify for Saga - I am only 48 -0

Who was your late husband insured with0

Try Direct Line they might be more accomodating. My father-in-law tells me Direct Line don't offer cover beyond a certain age (65?), if this is really the case might be worth switching to Saga when you can.0

Ecar - I have just asked for proof of No Claims - so I shall try a local broker when it comes through..0

Has the policy been cancelled then or was it due for renewal?
If you try a local broker you should find it easier to sort out in this case plus if your not sure how insurance works they will be able to take the time to explain it to you. You can of course try ringing around direct insurers but if you do this I would recommend you explain your situation at the start of the telephone conversation so you don't waste time with ones who cannot help you0 -

To take the hassle from you for the time being, as you have probably had enough to deal with, use a broker as you said, and next year, you can shop around yourself.
Good luck and chin up Cyd. Any motoring problems, guys on here will help you.Genie

jeannieblue is right, if you go to a local broker this year, it will save a lot of hassle for you, when the policy is due for renewal next year the no claims bonus will come through in your name and you can go to whoever you want with no fuss0
