I have one of these should i be able to fax if so how?

Should I be able to scan from printer to laptop if so how please?

This printer does printing, scanning and copying, but not faxing I'm afraid.
To scan (this bit is copied from an Amazon review to save me time!), press the scan button and select 'scan to PC'.
It gives you list of (connected) computers to send it to. It then appears on the computer of your choice - i.e your laptop - and you can set it to be saved as a tif/jpeg/pdf etc using the software or imported into HPs propriety software.

I dont think this one can fax.

I assume you mean scan a picture then have the scanned picture on the laptop?? I believe this printer is wireless as well so it depends how you're connected to it. If the laptop is physically connected to it the scanned picture should appear on the laptop. Did you install the software that came with the printer?

Downloaded from website but there no desktop icon I just press print to print wwirelessly and thats fine.

Have conectivity for printing but error appears on printer when trying to scan
