Lidl secateurs question
Lidl have two pairs advertised -
Lightweight bypass with non-stick Ilaflon carbon steel blades and non-slip handles for 95p.
Or later this week, heavy-duty with a safety lock; same blades and handle type but a choice between bypass or anvil for £2.92.
Which of the two (if any) do you prefer for design, strength and ability to prune to what thickness?
Thanks.

I'm no expert but I will just tell you that the safety locks on mine (I have bypass for smaller sticks and twigs and anvil for slightly larger ones) tend to lock on their own or can get stuck in position so I can't close the blades properly. It's very annoying if i'm part way through cutting something and have to let go to move the lock then try again.
I'd probably go for the heavy duty bypass ones but it'd depend on the design of the lock and whether I thought it might accidentally engage.0 -
I buy cheap because I loose themDoing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -
have been using the lidl ones 99p so 95p now for years and they are great. cheap enough to replace if you lose them! or if the kids take the metal spring out which mine do tend to do!3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Thanks for the replies. I got the 95p pair on Monday afterall as I also have an old pair. A quick test of the new secateurs showed them to be good cutting new growth (roses and privet). But they struggled a bit with older thicker privet branches.0
