 Just wanted to let anyone who has or is planning on getting one of these know to be careful when using it. My hubby bought me one on the 2nd Jan this year, it is only the 2nd of March and it has blown up and set on fire whilst i was using it earlier tonight. I am fuming as it cost over £100 and it is more dangerous than my reliable old chip pan! I have emailed Tefal and vented at them as i could have had the kitchen on fire because of it, luckily me and the hubby were in the kitchen when it happened so it was swiftly put outside, but things could have been so different if we hadn't been in there. Anyhow vent over,
Mandie.

Tefal are aware of this problem, and I think there was even a report on watchdog about it, but unfortunately nothing seems to have been done about it. I wanted one of these but after reading reports of them bursting into flames I haven't bothered. I think it's something to do with the fan not working so it overheats and bursts into flames.

yes same thing happened to mine a few months ago, tefal are well aware of the problem .but seem to think nothing need to be done, i would love another one as being disabled it is safer for me to use but i will not get one until they rectify the problem.
its a shame because it is such a good product, but i think they faults are dangerous, how they get away with kepp producing them i dont know0 -
I never watch watchdog, but i wish i'd saw that episode of it. If they offer me a replacement fryer when it goes back to where i bought it from i'll tell them where to stick it as it's back to my chip pan for me i think! I never have much luck with fryers and have had a few different brands over the years but even the lowest priced ones from tesco and argos have lasted longer than the actifry and when they died they just went bang and went cold instead of going bang and setting on fire.0

We bought one of these in December and only used it a couple of times a week and then only for chips. We were so thrilled with it - the chips were gorgeous. Then in February it gave two bangs and that was that. We took it back to Comet and had a full refund - no quibble, no problem.
I am so disappointed as it is a brilliant concept and it was so easy to use. Thank God we never had a fire."Every day when I wake up I thank the Lord I'm Welsh" Cerys Matthews0 -
Last week mine blew up, too. I'd had it since February 2009 and it is now June. Tefal arranged for a courier to collect it from me yesterday.
They are sending me a replacement.0 -
Mine went pop last week - they are collecting and replacing , will make sure i DON'T leave it unattended , and have it nearer ther back door just in case !! It is a good product (when its not setting light to the kitchen) it cooks well and you can product very tasty dinners as well and nice chips .

I was looking at these yesterday and thinking of getting one - thank goodness I didn't!0

After my replacement one arrived, I received a letter in the post from Tefal saying that this new one won't have a years guarantee.
The guarantee for this one will actually expire in Feb 2010, which is when the guarantee for my original one (which blew up earlier this month) would have expired.
Has anyone else been told this, too?0 -
Tefal seem to be making a lot of useless products - the flaming Actifry and the farting QuickcupThe man without a signature.0
