immersion heater hissing?

hi there
i am hoping someone can help.
after having a bath i went to the airing cupboard for a towel,
and i heard a hissing similar to that of a whistling kettle coming from the heater,
i immediatly turned off the heater cos im a worry wart and would have worried all night.
could this have had something to do with the boiler filling back up as i had just emptied it for my bath, ive never gone in the cupboard after a bath before so this is why i wouldnt have heard it in the past, but its had me worried.
