Options
I booked an holiday for myself partner and grandaughter last week her dad nolonger lives with them my grandaughters surname is her mothers surname and her fathers surname double barreled I booked her in her mothers maiden name only as her dads name as been dropped seen as they are no longer together.
The dilemma i have is that her birth certificate is in both names i have rang the passport office and have been told that she would need a letter from her father to say it is ok for the name to be dropped on her passport which he will not do.
where do I stand travel agent has booked flights with Thomas cook airlines I have looked on the TC site and it says £50 fee for changing name well I wont be changing it I will be adding to it.

The name on the tickets must be the same as the passport. I take it you have just applied for her passport or are about to. The passport will be in the name on her birth certificate.

You would be changing the name on the ticket as Smith-Jones is different from Smith so it will incur a change fee.

You could try to get more information from one of the online deed poll services as it may be cheaper to change her name legally than change the ticket...

Dont think you can that for a child without both parents consent, which they are saying has been refused.

Have you booked just thomas cook flights or a package, is the travel agency you booked it with a thomas cook agency and when do you actually go. Its not normally £70 for 1 name change. Its normally £30 before 2 weeks departure and £40 within 2 weeks and sometimes if you get a nice person on the other end of the phone they'll do it for free.

Oh i havent heard of the company Your hols so unfortunately i dont know what their policies are. What about ringing thomascookfly direct and asking them about adding the extra part of the surname on. I'm also not sure if thomascookfly comes under the same rules and regulations as the lo cost carriers like bmi, jet2 etc in which case that £70 could go up, because if you want to make a change to the tickets of lo cost carriers depending on what it is you have to pay the difference of the price of the ticket from when you purchased it to what price it is when you change it.

Have you checked the price of a flight only with TC, it may be cheaper than the name change, depending on where you are going to.
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical
