Found Barclays Debit Card in the street

Hmm... I can see your point.... There is no way Barclays would have been able to cancel the card without further details on the card. Okay, so it could have been skimmed, but Barclays should have been able to determine whether she had the card (do Barclays cards have a sort code and account number on.... do they have a 3 digit number on the back?)... if you have the name of the customer, the sort code and account number then I dont see what the problem is. It would seem pretty obvious to me that they ARE a customer of Barclays.
If it needed a manager why didnt it just get put through to a manager to sort out?
I'm pretty sure she could have got most of the way through security anyway with that information. If she had access to the electoral roll she probably could have found the address of the customer to, including date of birth etc.0 -
If the OP wants to commit fraud, let them be my guest!!Kavanne
Nuns! Nuns! Reverse!

I can't see the problem here. The lost card line isn't a lost luggage department.
If it's a Barclays card, and there's a Barclays Bank nearby, just drop the card and money in at the branch. Job done.0 -
I cannot acknowledge that that person has an account with the bank. How do I know the OP has the card? They may have skimmed the information. I cannot acknowledge anything about anyone's account to anyone other than the account holder who I would have to identify first.
Sorry!
Why do you need to acknowledge that the person has an account with the bank?
All the agent had to do was take the name and phone number of the caller and say "we will see if that person has an account with us, and if they do we will contact them", simple as that.
How is that fraud?
Note to self: Never bank with barclays, ever.0 -
I found a purse in my road, which is in the middle of nowhere so I was amazed to find it. It had money in it and several credit cards and I found the owner's name and address by looking on their PIN notification notice which had the PIN and address details!!
I took it back to them, but if I had been dishonest I could have made a killing. Some people are REALLY stupid.0 -
The OP actions are highly commendable but I think the poster got too involved. All the poster had to do was drop it in to any Barclays branch and they would have dealt with it.0
