Where do I stand?

Have won a monitor on ebay, which was advertised as 17". Used auctionsniper and have been out for the day.
I've come back, to find I've won the item, but it's not 17", but 15". Someone put a question to the seller today, and he's apologised for his error.
Obviously, I've bid more than I would had I known it was only 15". It's a couple of years old and I could buy a new one for less.
Where do I stand? Do I have to complete the purchase?
TIA
Sarah

I should imagine you could email the seller and mutually agree not to complete the sale considering it was their mistake.Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.0

Try taking it to the disputes console. He is in the wrong: he misrepresented the item he was selling.Small change can often be found under seat cushions.

Thats a bit harsh. email the seller first and if they are unreasonable THEN take it to a dispute. I assume you haven't paid yet?Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.0

No. I've only just won it, and wasn't sure if it was worth emailing him to ask him to agree not to complete the sale. I didn't want to risk a neg if it's all my own fault (for using a sniper).
I've emailed him now, though, so I'll see what he says.
Thanks.
