Its a multipule choice vote Rog, so you could pick as many as you wanted when you first voted :j

I see now, PaP - I was holding off voting until I knew about our holiday - didn't realise it was multiple choice. :o:o:o

I was thinking of travelling down on the Friday afternoon, not sure if by car or train (from Newmarket if anyone near wants a travelling buddy) and i don't mind sharing a hotel room.

I'm thinking there's two options. We go up Corn Street and head for the Wetherspoons pub (The Commercial Rooms). Or we head up Clifton and the Downs, which will be a wee bit more pricey, but I think has more atmosphere and allows for a picnic on the Downs.

    Any thoughts, people?

can you put that on a map so can see how far from Temple Meads it is for finding hotels?

    Thanks.

    Thanks.

Corn street is walking distance from temple meads but its a bit busy. You would be ideal to get the number 1 outside the station (cost £1 last time I used it) which runs in a loop then you get off in the centre and corn street is just across the way. You can get to clifton downs with the same bus but it is very prices unless you use some of the student bars. Nice for a walk though

Red circled is the train station, the light blue is the main bus stop outside the hippodrome. The dark blue is corn street where weatherspoons is and the pink is clifton downs.

So you could still book a hotel in town and travel to it if we move around, obviously this may cost though :(

Theres a big weatherspoons next to temple meads, the knights templar
which would be an easy starting point.
Its a bit quiet on the weekends.

Added bonus its a very short walk from my flat ;) but also near an ibis and a holiday inn express.

That's already been suggested and dismissed as it's away from the centre of town. The Commercial Rooms has a big area with seating and tables through the back that we could use, which would be quieter than the main pub area.

has there been a definite decision made about the date for this meet?? I'd like to look around for a hotel before it gets much closer.
