what is the strength of her connection? does it make a difference if she is sat next to the router compared to where she usually sits? How often would you say, ever 10mins? 1 hour?
  • Start by upgrading the router firmware, or changing the channel used by the wireless equipment. also see the wireless sticky thread.. Also, make sure she is connecting to her router, and not the neighbours.

As Browntoa suggests, interference can also be an issue.. cordless phones etc..

if she has a video sender in her room (from a sky/freeview box elsewhere in the house) get her to turn that off

it may be worth looking for newer Drivers for the laptop wireless

  • Powersaving is another potential culprit.

OH's laptop does this a lot (she blames the router, the ISP, , the weather, me, DS, the laptop - although mine never drops and she's had 2 laptops with 8 different WLAN cards in) - I changed the powersaving last week and she's on full time again.
