We are going through a broker we have been waiting 6wks to hear from abbey we got so fed up so cancelled application. The broker has all our wage slips, bank statements etc already so he said he is going to fax them through. We are with nationwide already. Did they let you know when the surveyer was going out.

I think I read some of it on another thread actually! (jumping through hoops?)

we didnt get told when the surveyor was going but we signed the paperwork on the tuesday and the EA from where we are buying gave me a call on the friday to say that the survey was done and back already. think we had the mortgage offer through the post the next week.

the people buying ours were waiting about 3-4 weeks for their mortgage offer to come through (not nationwide) and so that seemed to hold it up a bit. something always does!!

keep checking the stages its at with your broker to make sure they are doing all they can and let you know what stage its at. I hope it goes quickly for you now! whats happening with others in the chain?

we finally got it all sorted anyway, and are moving on friday. so much to do!

  • We are meant to be completing on 26th March and application has been doing this evening. Don't know how they are going to do it so quickly!

once our buyers mortgage offer was stamped and back with their solicitor we exchanged 4 days later and set a completion date for the week after that (so they got the paperwork tues, we exchanged fri and are moving this fri!) it does seem to move really quickly once the offer is all sorted.
  • I remember when I was a kid - it seemed to take my parents ages to sort it out!

We are with Woolwich and had an offer accepted a week last Thursday on a property. We had a mortgage in principle as we are porting and want to borrow another 30k. The surveyor went last week (I think Tues or Thursday). We had the survey report arrive on Sat morning and a mortgage offer came through today! This time a fortnight ago we were just making an offer! We are now ahead of our buyers despite having accepted an offer from them 4 weeks ago. Guess it just depends on the mortgage company and how quick they are. Keep chaisng them though.

Usually, when things go that well, the rest of the chain moves at snail's pace :o
