We were trying to get rid of the 306 for about 6 months and we literally couldn't give it away. Ebay was a last resort - we were just hoping that someone would take it off our hands and we got £500 for it!
That's a good idea - I didn't know you could do this! Out of interest, which charities do this?lostinrates wrote: »Alternatively, I could donate it to a charity to sell
Or, you might be able to get £2000 off the government for it!0 -

Our local odds and sods animal woman is always selling odd things to raise money and uses ebay...I have no idea if the bigs charities do.
I'd give it to someone who could use it if its still in any condition

Actually used prices are faring better than I expected, but I believe it can't be too much longer for new car prices to crack.

Maybe because every time we buy a car we are lied to and cheated ?0 -
So if you buy an old banger for two hundred quid, will you be able to 'scrap' it for £2k? Sounds like a plan of sorts.
They will have their !!!!!! covered on this. You will have to have owned the car for x years and paid for tax on it etc etc. I don't see it happening across the board but one of the manufacturers will do something but up the prices first. If people fall for it it's up to them
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0 -

The heavy metal in it's batteries (which have to be lugged everywhere) have a huge impact in mining, processing and shipping all over the world. It's fuel consumption aint up to much either.
The best thing you can do is keep your old car running for as long as possible and when it eventually dies, buy a small engined car.
This greenwashing is pulling the wool over peoples eyes. (not mine!;))
i hired a vectra a couple of years back. when i arrived i was informed i had been "upgraded" to a stupid prius. which was the only car they had.
it was awful. and it wasn't even particularly efficient, cominbed mpg was about 30. get much better mpg out of a mini cooper s, driving like an idiot.0 -

What are the odds that if this were introduced, the car dealers would immediately hike their prices by at least 1/2 the amount.0
