bank has cancelled all direct debits.

Good afternoon all.

I was just wondering if anybody could offer any assistance.

My partner currently works for a bank and as a result of this, she has to have a staff account.

now this account is where her wages are paid as part of her contract T&C's. until recently she had all her direct debits (mortgage, car, insurances) being taken from said account. the debit card on this account was recently withdrawn as a result of a couple of missed direct debits, which incidently where products purchased from the bank (mortgage and credit card). these missed payments were quickly rectified. all other direct debits were also cancelled.

now my partner has again re-instated these d/d's only to go in today to find that non of the payments had been made but all had been cancelled. surprisingly the bank took payment for their credit card!!!

could anyone offer any assistance in where to take this further. we had been advised that the account and debit card would all be re-instated following paying the missed d/d's. my partner is stuck in a position whereby she has to have her wages paid into an account which she is unable to use as the debit card and direct debit's have all been cancelled.

Open an account elsewhere and transfer her wages over each month

Are you 100% sure the wages have to be paid there? I've only ever heard of it being a contractual term to have an account with the bank, not to actually use it.

A lot of banks will only pay into an account with itself for salaries. However there is nothing stopping OP transferring this to another bank upon receipt.

I would be more worried about how financial problems OP seems to have would affect her career.

There are banks who will only pay salaries into accounts with that group.
