A O L refund or lack of it

I cancelled my AOL account last year and after a few months I noticed they where still taking the DDs from my account when I rang them they apologised and said that there had been a mistake and my account was now closed and that the DDs where taken in error and that I would receive a full refund in 40
days, after 55 days I rang them and they said that a refund had not been issued and that they would issue 1 and this would deffinately be in my account within 30 days,
after 37 days there was still no refund but they said that a refund had been requested on the date that I last called and that it will be in my account within the next 2/3 days,
two weeks later still nothing so I rang today and they said that the refund was proccessed in january and that the refund should have entered my account on or around 26/02/09 I told them that I have my bank statements in front of me and that it had not and that I was willing to send them copies to show this, they said that there is no need and that they believe me and they will investigate the matter and
get back to me in 48 hours.
what rights have I got and is there any authorities that I can contact to help
me retrieve my money, can I sue them and can I demand statements from them in writing.
