  • If you have open office, you can:
'Insert' -> 'Picture' -> 'From File'
to insert images into your document, and then choose the option:
    'File' -> 'Export as PDF'

Open office is freely available for download at:
    https://www.openoffice.org
Its about an 80Meg download (frommemory).
  • Alternatively if you do not wish to do this (or do not have ADOBE Acrobat), you can go to https://www.primopdf.com.

Its a free download and will add a PrimoPDF printer to your settings.

Insert the picture you want into a word document (or paint for that matter) and go to print.

Select the PrimoPDF printer and it will create it for you. It will give you a choice of how good the quality is (for print, for screen etc)

Should take a few seconds and voila'

    cheers

Never tried it so don't know how good it is -
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/

But I have seen it recommended many times
  • And to convert from PDF to jpeg, bmp, tiff etc try Ghostscript http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/. It's available on GPL (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gpl).

    HTH, Steve.
  • Or - if you use OS X, select File / Print / Save as PDF in well, pretty much any application as it is built into the OS ...
    Wot, no sig?

    Just tried it. (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/pdfcreator/PDFCreator-0_9_0_AFPLGhostscript.exe?download)

It installs itself under your printer options. Selecting it creates a pdf rather than sending it to the printer

All I had to do was to open the image and select Print from the Edit menu There was an extra Printer called PDFCreator and clicking that made the image into a pdf and saved it on my desktop

    :)
  • FreePDF will do this too - http://freepdfxp.de/

  • A massive thanks to all who suggested something

It has now given me another problem!

I do not know how big the pdf image is

It has to be an exact size 3.37" x 2.12" (inches)

I know how big it needed to be as a jpeg (1000 x 632 pixels)

It appears that the size has gone to a default size of A4?

How do i make sure it is the right size?

Sorry to be a pain in the *rse

    Regards

    Pete
  • Should be able to do it with a custom paper size in FreePDF - in fact I just tried it and it seems to do the trick, the last option on the paper size.....
