NPower standing charge for SOL14 is not what was stated in the quote:where do I stand
Hi, can anyone give me some advice, I am wondering where I stand with an issue I have with a standing charge on NPower's sign online 14 tariff, let me explain:
I have just changed my NPower tariff from standard gas and electricity to sign online 14. The reason for doing this is that the online quote it gave me was cheaper than what I was paying at the moment, I have a print out of the quote.
The confirmation letters came through and everything seems fine, apart from the quarterly standing charge for the gas: it's nearly double what was in the quote! (aprox £80 as opposed to £44). I went back online and re-did my quote- exactly the same price appeared as when I originally did the quote.
I suspect this has something to do with the pipeline not being owned by them as I enquired a while ago (about 6 months) as to why the price I paid was 1p more expensive than what was shown on the web and given an answer that it had something to do with the ownership of the pipe.
Basically I was wondering where I stand here before I tackle them? Are they allowed to provide a quote with one price and then charge another? Ok, I can understand that gas prices go up and down, but not the standing charge- particularly as it has come up the same in another quote I have just done!
Thanks for your time

There are two tariffs - the Web 14 with the higher standing charge and the Sign Online 14 with the lower standing charge. Both tariffs are very similar in total actual cost (as the unit prices are different) so double check which would be best for you if your usage varies over the year or you are not an average user.0
