Which sealant to use where?

Now I am retired I have been busy and just finished a lot of work on a kitchen and am not sure what sealant to use where if anyone can help. For the following places:

1) Between wall tiles and working surface.

2) Between wall tiles and door frames.

3) Between wall tiles and sides of kitchen cabinets.

4) Between vinyl sheet flooring and new kick strips.

I have bought supplies of decorators filler, rubbery selant like used around baths and sinks in white and also clear so I need to get squirting.

  • Well done on the DIY so far, wish I was at that stage.

Kinda depends on the colour of your units and tiles and flooring. But so you don't see the gaps I would suggest white all round (same brand/type) so it all looks the same. Don't think it is essential to get anti mould etc in a kitchen unlike a bathroom where it is nearly alway wet. But I would get a decent brand not cheapo stuff.

Good luck, I hate sealing, I've heard masking tape is good to get a clean edge and will be trying it for the worktop especially.

I would use decorators caulk round the door frames and between the tiles and sides of the units.

I would use a clear silicone sealant between the tiles and worktop unless you've used white grout between the tiles and in that case I'd go for white silicone.

Use clean silicone to seal the kick boards and the floor.

That sounds excellent so tomorrow I will be starting to let lose with the sealant gun.

I was looking for a sealant for using while installing shower doors. One for a tray shower and one for a bath shower. I see B&Q have one of those tubes where no gun is needed. Are they any good? If not which sealant should I use?
Also, for settling in cracks in walls and ceilings what should I use?

I wouldn't use cheap sealant myself, often they rubbish and dont contain mould killer or dont last very long. A good silicon sealant should last years and I mean years 5-10 easy unless its constantly wet/damp conditions

Soudal make a product called silirub 1 universal (daft name i know) it's got a strong anti fungicide in so should remain mould free for years.

    good luck.
