Help For 1st Time Buyer

I am about to complete on the purchase of a 2 bedroom terraced house. It was a repossession so as a result there is no gas or electricty connected to the house and no previous owner to talk to regarding any utilities. From ringing around I have found out the electricity supplier but to find out the gas supplier I need to look on the box, but as I have not moved in yet that is no help!

I want to start comparing prices for utilities but everyone wants to know previous supplier, how much gas and electricity we use, etc etc, but thats information I do not have! I am moving in with my partner and we are both moving out from parents houses so have no idea what our spend is likely to be!

Can anyone suggest the best way forward? I dont want to get sucked into a deal if there is a cheaper option out there!

If it was repossessed there is a possibility the gas meter has been removed and the electric supply de energised (the main fuse removed). You need to contact the existing supplier, you say you already know who the electric is and you can call 0870 608 1524 and that will tell you.

If it is disconnected the existing supplier is the only one that can reconnect you and once this is done and you have registered your details you can switch to who you like.
