Libel, defamation or slander

To date, we have had returned two thirds of the total fee paid. Which took four months to conclude! We have no desire, time or emotional strength to chase the other £300*, but I wish to express my experience with the paying public.
In doing so, to protect myself from libel defamation or slander.
How do I do this, to keep myself right ?
My partner and I were to be married in Jan 09, but due to disputes with the booking agent and the Castle owners, it did not occur.
The whole matter spiralled for months. With a mountain work load of emails passed to trading standards and the credit card company. A large case file of ' he said, she said, he didn't say, they didn't have to oblige '
I believe this is why the booking agent dragged it for so long. It had become so overwhelming, even the trading standards officer who first received the paperwork obviously from the stated email, in my honest opinion could not have read and thoroughly investigate the issue, when they couldn't even differentiate between my partners surname and a street name, which are worlds apart!
For example, in the email response, the first TS officer, referred and addressed my partner , Mr.Jones*. as
Mr.Avenue* at 100 Avenuefield Road*.
Subsequently, the second officer, proceeded to pass it on to head office. ( with still no response ) furthermore, the credit card company indicate in my above my beliefs and opinions, that they to have not understood or began to comprehend the matter and quoted under S75, could not assist because the majority was done over the telephone.
eerrrmmm.....if they had took the proper time to read the paperwork, although overwhelming, can and should be-able to be concluded. But four months later, i'm mentally drained to continue fighting for the other £300*
* information changed slightly, until advised what my stance on voicing this matter would be.

No idea since you have told us precisely nothing, and I can't claim to understand anything you said.
BUT, as long as everything you say is factual, and you can back it up, then there is no reason to fear libel.0 -
Your first post is incredibly unclear, but from what I can gather you had a bad experience in booking a wedding and now want to warn people about booking through the same agent or company, but want to ensure that you are not sued for defamation of character first?
I wouldn't really worry about it. Justification is a complete defence to defamation of character, so providing you're factual you're safe."MIND IF I USE YOUR PHONE? IF WORD GETS OUT THATI'M MISSING FIVE HUNDRED GIRLS WILL KILL THEMSELVES."0 -
Don't have a clue what you are talking about.
Why not just tell it like a story first?0 -
Me and Lady Freda got up one day and we decided to get hitched. She wandered off to registrar's office and booked three weeks on a Saturday, 11 O'clock slot.
Me, I turned up, paid for bit of paper and we got wed. Out of the £150 we saved up, I put £50 behind bar, put on some gaff and then we spent the rest on Honeymoon, just me and Freda.
So how come your wedding cost so much in misfortune as well as being too darn expensive?0 -
I also have no idea what the OP is talking about.0

haha, sounds like a good plan!0 -
Sorry for the delay. Sleep disorder issues have been wrecked the last few weeks.
Fiance is an only child, and MIL unfortunately, won't settle for a quiet quick wedding. Neither of us have been married before and wanted a special day. Everywhere we've tried, doesn't come short of £1000.
The whole matter has went on for months. Rang up with enquiries and requirements, laid it all out on the telephone. Booked a week. £800, then a further day of £115.
( Usually facility fee for over 10 people. The facility fee was waivered to us on 12 people total attending the wedding )
Rang Castle, introducing us and asked if they could recommend a minister.
Mr.Castle wasn't happy. Booking agent didn't tell them about the wedding on the Saturday, or any of the other information that was voiced when booking was made.
Mrs.Castle spoke with Mr.Castle. Then all was ok.
I rang Mrs.Castle to ask her if the booking agent, told them of our requirements.
They did not.
Mrs.Castle said no. Mr and Mrs.Castle never answered recorded delivery letter, stating there was a fundamental error in the contract, therefore renderring it null and void. The booking agent stated we wouldn't be hearing from Mr an Mrs Castle and insisted, we had to deal with them. Emails between agent and I spiralled for months.
Rang Agent expressing desire to resolve. Agent continued as usual. We answered agent by asking if £150 would help settle the matter. Agent took our olive branch and said yes to £150, and yet continued with her usual. Emailed asking us to confirm we would accept a refund for £650. !!!! ( £915 - £150 = £765 )
IMHO, it just indicates even more, Mrs.Boss Agent's incompetence at actually doing the investigation she states she done. Deducting £150 for the first inital payment of £800.
Agent is denying. Deny deny deny.
Credit card company insisted, due to telephone contract conversations, they can't help, even after reminding them about section 75. They advised to cash the £650, because Agent informed them it would be cancelled if we didn't otherwise C/C company advised we could lose all. £650 Cheque cashed.
Agent informs Trading Standards we have lied.

Again. I don't understand what your point or complaint actually is? We can't help you unless you explain the problem in concise, plain, english.0

So you booked a castle to have a wedding in, and paid £915.
They didn't realise it was for a wedding, so when they found out, they pulled out, but will only refund you £650 of the £915 you paid to reserve the castle?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Ok.....lets say I don't follow through with the complaint ?
Companies like such, can continue to treat people like this, and get away with it.bam bam bammy Shore by The Revellers...do do de de do.0
