You need to apply for LHA - take advice from shelter about the landlord not taking benefits.
Number on their website. Ring them now.

    Good advice from Poppysarah.

The fact that the LL has said that they don't accept benefits is irrelevant. If you have lost your job and have no other way of paying rent without claiming HB/LHA then he will have to accept this. Your contract doesn't end until July, this protects YOU as well as the LL.

Get a claim in for JSA and HB/LHA asap.
My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say ;)
    Ignore......check!

You can claim LHA without your LL knowing. The local council should have an option not to inform the LL/LA that you're claiming it. Most LLs don't take it as it takes too long to process, which is the main reason.
