Hiya,
I need some advice on the best laptop for me to buy for my university course. I am studying for a law degree and have partically set my heart on a apple mac laptop, could someone please advice me on which one would be most suitable.
Also I have had a look on ebay at the mac G4 laptop and was wondering would this be suitable?
Any advice anyone could give me would be appreciated
Thanks
Dan

Hi Dan,
I'm sorry I don't have an Apple Mac so can't really advise about which is the best model to get.
The only snippet of wisdom I can offer is that you are doing well to not buy one that is 'University Ready'. University's will often scare students into believing that their laptops may not work on campus so they should get a 'University Ready' one...
My old university offered these for about £250 more than laptops you can buy in the shop and it basically came with the university's logo as the wallpaper, the university's homepage as its homepage and an ethernet cable (which you could buy at the shop for about £5 anyway!).'I can't deny the British influence on my accent and mannerisms, but I don't know the British national anthem, I didn't weep for Princess Diana and I always cheer when Britain loses at sport. I bought a sony vaio for my degree and its perfect. Have not used a mac so cant advise. However i would advise not to buy a laptop from ebay! I would never spend that amount of money on something i hadn't seen. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

Firstly I would suggest finding out what software you'll need to run (if any as part of your degree).
Secondly I would wait until you've started - you can often get educational discounts (you can on Apple for instance via a special part of the web site)
[I personally wouldn't recommend a mac - you'll find support much easier to obtain if you've got a windows based laptop]0 -
Why does a law student need a laptop? If you hope to practice as a lawyer, you would do better to get used to working with a quill pen. And you need to be very handy at tying things up with red tape.0

only trouble with macs is that even when they do talk to pcs, they don't talk to pcs perfectly.
my old imac has word, but it's just not easy to use or format for some reason....for more info check out www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk . You'll find me there.
