Price of EquiGas and EquiPower to be cut

Following the reductions to the wholesale price of electricity and gas over the past few months, I’m delighted to announce that, from the end of this month, the cost of both EquiGas and EquiPower will be reduced. EquiPower will be reduced by an average of 9% and EquiGas by 2.5%. This mean that the average dual fuel customer will see bills reduced by 5.5%. The new EquiGas price is 3.675p/kWh (including VAT) and the new EquiPower prices can be found here

I'm surprised at the disparity of the decreases and what fuel they are on. maybe the energy companies are trying to convince everyone there's no collusion whatsoever?

So, just npower (and their 'partner' UW) to announce something now?

Have Scottish Power announced any price cuts? I'm on their Online Energy Saver 4 tariff, and am eagerly awaiting their reductions!

Any idea why both moneysavingexpert.com and energyhelpline.com are both reporting an average decrease in ebico electricity of just 7.7% whilst ebico themselves are declaring an average decrease of 9% in their electricity prices?

Couldn't possibly be an average of 9% if you look at those figures!

Taking into account both General Domestic and Economy 7 night and day rates, the average reduction is 9%.

I think that Energy Helpline base the 7% figure on the reduction on General Domestic for those paying Direct Debit. They did email me about this but I currently don't have access to my emails to confirm this.

I found it odd that with the last increase, there was no mention in the monthly news email, yet with this decrease it is top of the list

Anyway, at least the new rates apply from 1st March unlike the other suppliers who are waiting until everyone's usage goes down

The latest email was issued 02 March 2009, following the formal announcement of reduced prices on 27 February 2009 (effective end of March 2009).

The previous email was issued 05 September 2008, yet the price increase wasn't formally announced until 22 September 2008 (effective 02 October 2008)

I prefer any personal notification of a price increase to be as late as possible so that I could maintain the pre-increase prices and switch to another provider should the increase be unacceptable.
