I'm watching a couple of areas Worcester and Bristol, and I am finding that quite a few of the houses in Bristol that I was watching are selling and a couple in our price range in Worcester hae gone under offer (nothing has gone under offer in this price range for the last year). Green shoots?
Is anyone else getting this feeling?
I wouldn't say green shoots - but I agree with you about houses starting to sell- they are in our area too - I've noticed a few sold signs appearing in the past month or so and I actually saw a couple of removal vans on Friday of last week.
My daughter and her partner have their house on the market - been on properly about a week and they have had 3 viewings and someone is coming back for a 2nd viewing - I know it means nothing - they haven't had an offer.
I was quite surprised they got viewings so quickly.0 -
I believe there is a direct association, between SSTC in the last few weeks and the media storm of insessant ramping when the Halifax figures came out, also it is usually the busiest time for moving anyway. I know people who have been saying 'this is the bottom now' since those figures were published, I say nothing, it's no use, just let them get on with it, fools and their money and all that......:rolleyes:0

couple down the street from me have now sold
however i wouldn't read too much into it0 -
Yes, I'm seeing quite a lot local moving. There are some new builds whish were all to let and to sale (both boards on each) and whatever has happened, hey are now being lived in. I posted last week that I noticed quite a few sold boards or under offer boards going up.0

In my area (SW16) I noticed some moving late last year (along with price falls), but it seems little is at the moment, unless very, very nice or (comparatively) competitively priced. Very few exceptions to that observation.Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists of choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable. J. K. Galbraith0

We were busier this January then last january ( removal company ) , and we have had a steady supply of removals ever since ,not flat out , but then we havent had to lay anyone off either .0

I recently visited my mother in Macclesfield and noticed quite a lot of SOLD activity compared to recent visits, so I'm sure the low interest rates and "massive" reductions have pulled a lot of idle/scared/dis-interested money into the market.
However it's hard to see how this can be translated into a long term change. The imaginary funding simply isn't there any more, and there are only so many 'get out of debt jail free' cards the government can pull out of its pockets via its tame banks. Sooner or later those of us funding this experiment are going to wake up properly and demand we get a rescue package too. A rescue from government policies designed to save today by sacrificing tomorrow.
We continue to live in "interesting" times.

I think this is very regional at the moment - I live in north Kent and judging by the local papers etc things look really slow still, however a friend of mine who works in an estate agent in York is really busy with plenty of sales happening.0

I have noticed a similar thing where I live but I agree that its only the sellers which cut their loses and reduce the house to a sensible price that are lucky enough now to get a sale although the price of which it does sell for is still too expensive.0

House sales are down 40% or something, so 60% are still selling.
Like with everything, when it's in your head, you notice it more. How many people have talked about a car, then suddenly you start seeing them everywhere?
it's just a case of noticing more I think, as it's on your mind0
