Nochex allowing chargebacks

It looks like the chargeback situation on nochex isn't as clear cut as it used to be. This is now showing in their user agreement:
However, in all other circumstances if a payer’s Emoney purchase transaction that is credited to your account is subject to chargeback you agree that you are responsible for refunding the payment. If a chargeback occurs on an Emoney payment made to your account, we may debit your account balance to pay for it and at our choice may close or restrict your account. In addition we reserve the right to employ other commercial or legal means to recover any shortfall arising where the balance in your account is insufficient to repay such a chargeback.
I don't fully understand what they are getting at and as I don'y use nochex anymore it doesn't affect me, but others that do take nochex might want to check what these changes mean.

Apart from on eBay you are no longer allowed to ask for cash payments. :mad:0 -

Actually that brings me to something else that I meant to ask on here, but I think I am starting too many threads today!
On Watchdog on Tuesday they mentioned a loan company that was stealing money from cutomers just by using bank details. In the usual fluffy way that Watchdog present, all cues to camera and no substance, they never mentioned how it was done, but the impression was given that the poor people scammed had merely handed over the usual bank details so that money could be paid INTO their accounts once the loan was agreed.
If that is the case then it instantly means that direct bank transfers, which I like are a bad thing, but mopre worryingly that cheques can also be used to defraud as paying someone a cheque for say a deposit could leave you open to having your account rifled?
That surely can't be what Watchdog meant as that makes a mockery of the whole cheque system, and much as I don't like cheques I cannot belive it is unsafe to use one. Did anyone else see that programme and did I miss something vital?

Is this the item you are talking about...

If it is, it sounds like they paid the company money first, so maybe it had something to do with that (I have no idea about these things, but could it be some kind of direct debit?). Maybe you should write and ask Watchdog? they do tend to be very vague on the details.

Nochex don't allow chargebacks like Paypal do, they normally investigate buyers claim in full. Paypal nearly always sides on the buyer, they don't accept proof of delivery in many cases and they freeze your account and hold your funds. The Daily Mail had an article about paypal ripping customers off and has set up a forum for people who have received a bad service from paypal to highlight their complaints.
Nochex 99.9% of the time scrap chargeback claims when you have proof you have done nothing wrong.

In my opinion no, ask yourself would you use it as opposed to paypal where you stand a chance of getting your money back if the item doesn't arrive?
Whilst there are still sellers who insist they do not take responsibility for parcels once they are posted, I would not be willing to use anything other than paypal.
I offered nochex for about three years or so, it was used by my buyers possibly twice in all that time, which made it very expensive as I never built up enough of a balance to withdraw funds for free. It also was no good for my overseas buyers, so I removed it from my listings. I have never used nochex as a buyer and never will.

hmm thats what i was thinking. The other day i was thinking of not using PayPal but then i thought to myself that i wouldnt be happy paying for something by cheque / bank transfer as you have no comeback. I guess PayPal will always be the preferred method of buying because of its intergration with eBay.0
