L & G and Powerplay Direct

after some advice from anyone ?
my laptop got damaged by accident (the screen got cracked after being dropped). rang L & G they said i was covered and I sent it to Powerplay Direct (their authorised Repairer). they checked it, said they could repair it (which was good as i wanted it back), took the £100 excess and returned it to me.
i took it out of the box and turned it on, and the machine did nothing ! apart from the fan spinning ! i turned it over and checked it and it looked like the bottom panel had not been put back correctly. i rang powerplay and told them, they said sorry and asked me to send it back again.
a week later they tell me that "somebody" (but not them) has taken the back off and the warrenty is invalidated and they would not repair it and passed it back to L & G.
L & G investigated and after another 10 days tell me that they will not cover this as they believe it has been tampered with. i ask why ? they say "some people cause damage on purpose to get things replaced" i ask is that what they are saying about me? she says no, but not covered and therefore will not repiar or replace.
So I'm an excess out of pocket (£100), i have a broken laptop on it's way back to me, and the insurance company will not pay up as they state "they cannot prove what happened to it". i thought that is why we had insurance ?
with all my policies i give L & G more then £120 per month in premiums, what's the point ? they obviously don't cover me ? one wonders if i die if they will pay out on my life insurance, or they will decline as they "cannot prove what happened"
help please ! i intend to fight this as i've been wronged ! any suggestions on what i can do ?

Ring L&G up and speak to a superviser, take their name and explain the situation politely. They should sort the matter out for you as they have a massive contract with Powerplay, if they do not play ball advise them you will send a formal letter of complaint to the Chief Executive (Details of who they are and where to send them are in your policy) and that if that does not work you will complain to the ombudsman.
Explain to L&G that their arguement some people break items deliberately to get a new one does not hold water bearing in mind the lap top had just been delivered and you complained of the problem immediately. So how could you have benefited by deliberately damaging it.0 -

tried that ! it was her who gave me the deliberately break it line ! i've got the chief exec's name and i will write to him.
thing is, it's this machine i wanted back ! i nevr wanted a replacement, i always wanted this back. so why would i break something i wanted back.
i have to prove that i didn't damage it ? and as i didn't do it how can i prove it ? sound to me like i'm guilty until proved otherwise !0 -
Have you got a broker or do you deal with L&G direct?
L&G are normally a very good company on claims, I'm surprised they are being like this as a few hundred quid on a lap top claim is nothing to an Insurer and in this case I would have thought it would be Powerplay replacing it anyway. Providing you have told us the truth.0 -

yes i have told the truth ! that's what galls me the most ! i told them about the panel ! yet they are trying to insinuate it was me !
if i wanted to ruin this machine i would have done it 1st time ! but as i said, i want this laptop back and working! i don't want an alternative.
i've been without this for more than 5 weeks !0 -
If you have a broker get them to ring and pressurise L&G failing that ring and ask for the claims manager and explain the situation and that if you do not get satisfaction you will do an executive complaint, then ombudsman as well as going to the media.
The above should work.
I used to have a big account with L&G as a broker, this would have been so easy to sort out so if you have a broker get them to do it for you0
