As the title really, hot water from the tap, then gets cold for 30secs or so, then gets hot again..
Does that over, and over, and over again.
Any quick ideas, will try to find the model. Looked at it, no model number on the front of it that we can see.
Boiler is a combi.

Tis could be one of two things. Most likely is a hot water thermister fault. The thermister sensor is the most common cause of erratic hot water temperature. A less likely problem may be the diverter valve. On most ravenheats, the hot water section of the valve contains a neoprene diaphragm, which moves when you operate the tap. It pushes a pin which activates a small microswitch, telling the boiler to operate. These diaphragms can pinhole or tear, which causes the pin to "pulse" causing the microswitch to constantly click on/off. Hope this helps.0

It gives me a little in-sight to what could be the problem, though i have no knowledge over a boiler, or any heating system.
From the ravenheat website, we think the boiler is a CSI SYSTEM AAA (T), which is here - http://www.ravenheat.co.uk/CSISystem.htm
The next step, is getting someone to come look at it, and repair the damn thing. We did have BG Homecare, and they thought it was the PCB (at £200 a go).
Also, the other fault is the boiler whistles when the heating is on. We suspect this is due to the water being hard, and a buildup of limescale, which the system needs treating.
Do i contact ravenheat who will give me a repair guy, ideally want someone who knows what they are doing, than a guy who will replace multiple parts in a trial and error situaion.

Ok, sorry in advance as this my go on a bit. First things first, you need to find out a rough age of the boiler. If its within 4 years, it probably is a condensing model. Easy way to tell is below the appliance where all the pipes are. If one of those is a white plastic pipe, approx 3/4" diameter, then its a condensing model. The link you posted is for a system model. Most likely you have the combi model http://www.ravenheat.co.uk/CSI85.htm. If thats the case, the instruction book is available here http://www.ravenheat.co.uk/pdf/CSI85/CSI85A(T).pdf. I advise that you print this off and keep a copy as these are essential for owners and installers. All Ravenheat boilers come with a 3 year warranty so, with a bit of luck, you may fall within the warranty period. I strongly advise that you contact Ravenheat to rectify the problem. Manufacturers tend to have fixed call out charges, regardless of how many parts are needed. Smaller independent companies may be the cheaper option but will charge per part and probably wont have any of the parts in their van stock. Sorry i cant be any more help but i havent worked on ravenheats for a few years.
Good luck, Hope you get everything sorted out.0 -
No worries,
Boiler was fitted in to 2004, its mounted in the old airing cupboard vent out through the roof. A simple install.0 -
As previous poster says it could be a faulty sensor, but posibly a blocked calorifier. be prepared for some engineers to play guess work on these boilers as most dont like them one bit, they are cheep and nasty boilers that cause no end of problems mainly down to the cowboys that install them!0
