Excellent Book Swap Site https://www.readitswapit.co.uk Well run site and you have a wide choice of books to swap, all for the cost of postage. The postage on a 300 page paperback is less than £1. Cheaper than a book from the supermarket.

Thanks Lil, that's a great site!
I'm trying to not buy books at the moment and get rid of ones I have read so this seems like the solution for me.0 -
First book I swapped would have cost me £3.73 in the supermarket. The postage on the swap was 73p a saving of £3.00. Book in good condition.0

I am a bit of a sceptic, although I have listed a few books, how do you know that you are going to get the book you've asked for after you've posted your own?I haven't got one!0

I think you just have to trust that the person will send the book. If they didn't you would get them booted off the site!0

We have a free book shelf (and donation bin) in the canteen at work - there are a few 100 books on there now - cheaper than buying and you might read something you never thought of picking up before

I've managed to do a few swaps for books that I really wanted. The clerk in the post office where I send the books from is signing up to the site!!!!!!
I always buy loads of books so I'm saving loadsa money.0 -
My family are also giving me books that they are finished with so that I'll be able to keep the swaps going.0

Another interesting book swapping site is https://www.eswapnow.com. It works differently from Readit Swapit (on credits rather than finding the person you want to swap with) but also allows you to swap DVDs, CDs and games.
Just another one to have a look at! Dont shop till you drop...swap till you drop! Much cheaper and just as much fun!

I remember reading about a "system" that was started on the London Underground where books were left on the seats when people had finished reading them and anyone could help themselves. I think the current "donor" then wrote in the book on one of the blank pages what they thought of the book so people could get an idea before they started reading.
This was open to abuse of course, but could work on trains and any type of transport (as long as the cleaners didn't chuck them away!!).
