Unregistered Title - Implications?

I've just been told that the property I am hoping to buy is "unregistered title". What does this mean and what are the implications? Does this mean that there may be some doubt over ownership or boundaries? Does it mean that the conveyancing will be more complicated and my solicitor is going to charge yet more?

this is usually nothing toworry about... lots of older properties are unregistered... when u purchase u will be required to carry out a first registration (or your sols are)...
this should not cost you anymore then if the property was registered but best u check with your conveyancers
please dont worry up until a few years ago most titles/properties were unregistered

Registered Title was first intoduced in 1925 and was gradually rolled out over the whole of England and Wales with registration becoming compulsory in each area over the years.
There are no adverse implication for buying unregistered land. You may find it takes a bit longer and costs a bit more because it can be more complicated, and your lawyer may need to make more investigations and enquiries and will need to carry out the first registration.
It's worth asking the vendor if they'll voluntarily register it before completing the sale, to save some agro, but they'll probably say no (I usually do) because it'll cost their own client more.
Owning registered property is a better option (not that you have a choice) because you don't have title deeds to worry about and the State guarentees the title to your property.
