I'm pretty new to ebay but since having a clear out thought it was about time! Listed an item tonight no reserve £49.99 or BIN for £100 (RRP £135 orignally and its BNIB) anyway, just signed on to find its been "sold" to an american buyer, private, no feedback etc however I only quoted postage to UK and have not mentioned anywhere about sending it internationally. What happens here, im pretty sure if i send it it "wont arrive" but can he give me negative feedback if I refuse to sell it him?

Send a polite email, saying you do not sell internationally & hope for the best.
If he negs you, email ebay. I am sure they will remove it.
If he is less then 30 days old, and gets blocked the neg would be removed anyway.
And you right about the "not received" part, but see if he is willing to pay for UPS or Fedex and see him/her run like a baby0 -
If you did not have your seller preferences set correctly then you have a valid winner.
All you can do is contact the winner and explain that you set the auction up wrongly and cannot ship it out at any reasonable cost, you might also mention the excessive customs charges he will face at hisi end and which are his responsibility. If he agrees to cancell the transaction then do a mutual cancellation request to get your FVFs back.
Unfortunately buyer remains eligible to leave feedback as he is a valid winner. Then set your seller preferences correctly.

Start from here to set buyer requirements to exclude overseas bidders or bidders with NPB strikes etc.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Get the buyer a quote for insured shipping to the US and let them decide whether they wish to proceed with the transaction. As said, they may be liable for customs / other taxes, but if they are prepared to pay the cost, does it really matter to you where they are ?0

Point out that the auction quoted for UK postage only, so could he supply a verified address in the UK that he'd like it posted to.
If he can't do this, and you didn't block non UK bidders, then you need to find a tracked, insured courier service that will take it, and he'll have to pay for that instead.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

There won't be any customs charges on £100.
OP explain to your buyer that the item ships to the UK only, but you're prepared to make an exception if the buyer pays by bank transfer.
Check interparcel for shipping rates, they're often surprisingly reasonable, and fully tracked."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

£100 into the States? Their limit is much lower than that for taxes and duty.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It's $200, so almost £200.
"U.S. Customs collects the duty when you mail back something that is more than $200. .... For orders under $200 USD, we pay no customs fee"
"Mail order goods from overseas, ordered over the internet, will pass duty-free into the USA if they are worth less than $200 USD""Love you Dave Brooker! x"

Good grief, my frineds have an appeal then as they get hammered for all sorts of charges on everything I send from the UK for them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Shipping does get added to the total, so if it's $100 and $140 shipping they'll get charged duty, but even then it's only 7% or so of the amount over $200.
If only we brits could import £200 worth of internet purchaces duty free..."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

Thank you for all your responses! I've emailed her to say that I haven't quoted for posting to the US but she hasn't paid it yet anyway.....I would probably be more trusting if she had feedback or something even though I know everyone starts somewhere but £100 is too much money to lose, prob wont get that if it goes via auction and they are gonna charge for relisting but what can you do?
I was expecting a nightmare transaction at some point I guess.
