I believe that you can buy a card off Sky for a one off payment of about £25 that will allow you to get most of the Free Channels.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

Some of the free channels work anyway without a card0

My partner has just set the box and cables up temporarily in kitchen.. but we need to take card out of the main box into the basic one to view the paid channels.....and it works but when card out of box we only view the free ones.
If i phone up sky saying card not working etc..... will they send me a new card with same numbers or different one?
Thanks0 -

I very much doubt they would fall for that.
If they did give you a new one they would probably void the old oneI used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -

No way will you get away with that, Sky are far too clever.0 -

Im amazed this even worked to get the paid channels, i always thought cards were paired to boxes, so in theory the only channels you should be able to get by swapping the card to another box is the Freeview channels, you shouldnt be able to view Sky Sports or Sky Movie channels on the second box with the card inserted.:beer:0 -
It seems like you are trying to get paid channels on the new box for no extra cost this is not possible
options:
1) Watch the free channels available without a card
2) Watch 1) plus the free channels available with a card http://www.freesatfromsky.co.uk/faqs-freesat.aspx#q3
3) Get multiroom
4) Keep removing the card from the main box whenever you want to use it with the 2nd box - though then your sky+ won't be able to record anything from paid channels during that time plus sky could void your card if they notice0
