My mother in law grew some lovely mini cucumbers a couple of years ago, she doesn't know what name they were as her neighbor gave her the plants.

Can anyone recommend a type to buy that is easy to grow please?

I did find one called Cucumber Ilas on the Marshalls site which says it is self pruning which sounds good to me.

realseeds sell a Miniature White Cucumber which are really taste great and very crunchy I saved the seed from last year, which was really easy and growing again this year. They also sell bite size ones called Melothrie my children just love these and last year took them to school everyday as a playtime snack.

    checkout their site http://www.realseeds.co.uk/cucumbers.html

The best thing about their selection of cucumbers is that you don't have to faff around removing the male flowers, just let them get on with it.
    Kind Regards

In the past I've grown a variety called Patio Pik (think it's called that) which produces masses of delicious crunchy cucumbers about six inches long. I start mine off in my mini greenhouse and then plant them outside in a south sunny border, with lots of rotted manure or compost around their roots.

I grew three, garden centre bought, mini cukes (in a grow bag) in the green house last year. They went absolutely crackers and almost took over the green house.
There were dozens of cukes, and they went down a treat with everyone.
Cant remember the variety though sorry.

The most I have heard of from one plant was 105, hope they had a big family.

If anybody likes cucumbers, the Mini varieties are really worth growing. They're very crisp and crunchy, full of flavour, prolific and ideal for tucking into packed lunch boxes. Once you've tried them, you'll never want to buy one of these large tasteless supermarket varieties again.

I bought some seed from Lidl yesterday for a mino cucumber. 47p I think. they are called Cucumber Konsa, they are a hybrid though which is a shame. I have never grown them before though and cannot comment on flavour etc..

Hybrids, if F1, are an improvement on the old open pollinated varieties as they require far less work to produce a crop.Surprised about the price though as F1 seed often cost that price each.
