International Transfers - IBAN and BIC numbers

Hi, quick question.
I need to receive money from abroad via a bank transfer and have been asked to supply IBAN and BIC numbers for my account.
I'm not familiar with that system at all. Can I deduce them from the usual sortcode and account number?
I could try to get in to the branch in the next few days to ask, but just wondered if some clever person could save me the bother.

I don't think you can - though sometimes they are listed on your paper statement or online banking0

Who do you bank with? Most banks will print them on their statements.
BIC tends to be standardized and can be found - not deduced. IBAN, however, can change subtly on different sort codes etc. What would William Shatner do?0 -

Lloyds TSB. Don't have paper statements though, and can't immediately find anything on online banking. Unless I missed it
Thanks, I'll double check.0 -

Their website says you can call their telephone banking or their international services section on 0121 695 6952. Probably easier to call than go to a branch just for that. You'll only need to do that to get your IBAN, as your BIC is LOYDGB2L.
The most annoying thing is that your IBAN will always go somewhere along the same lines - GBXXLOYDYYYYYYZZZZZZZZ. The Y is your sort code, Z is your account number. The XX is two digits which form a checksum, and that's really all you need. What would William Shatner do?0 -
Thanks mate, I'll give them a buzz tomorrow then.0

In case anyone else searches this in 100 years time, for Barclays your IBAN is listed on paper statements, top right hand corner. Doesn't help the OP but might come in handy one dayStarting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
