Does anyone know if installing CCTV to recordable DVD or Hard drive can reduce your premiums?

It would not normally make any difference, it may have a detterent effect on potential burgalars but should not be relied on to stop them as they can simply cover their faces.

It is normally better to do physical things to your house like fit decent locks on your doors and windows and things like padlocking your side gates to prevent potential burgalars from getting into your back gardern.

If you do have decent door and window locks becareful if you are taking a discount from the Insurers for it as they discount is very small and they may apply warranties to your policy that you are not covered if you go out and do not use the locks or increase the excess if you do not

CCTV systems are too simple to overcome (theft of device, use of hoodies) that insurers do not take them seriously.
All they usually tell you is how the thieves did it, not who they are. This is also after the act, i.e. a CCTV system cannot summon assistance.

The only exception is systems that are remotely monitored by an approved alarm receiving centre (aka central station) where the cameras are slaved to external grade movement detection devices for event monitoring or constantly monitored (town centre systems).

Good point Matty, CCTV cameras that are professionally installed and monitored 24 hours by a professional company eg security company can make a difference on some Commmercial Insurance Premiums and may help if you have a High Net Home Insurance eg your paying upwards of £1000 for your home insurance.
