Jeyes fluid dilution rates
Hi all. I've bought a pint of Jeyes fluid from the allotment shed - but as it's in an old milk container I don't have dilution rates. I want to use it to soak some old plant pots before I reuse them (allready washed, just need to disinfect). Can anyone give me the dilution rates please?

Hellooooo :grouphug: Lovely to see you :kisses3: I have no idea as to the answer to your Q, but you could try e-mailing Jeyes, or take a look when you're next in a garden centre
And if you make some space, I'll try sending this PM I have for you

The original Jeyes Fluid disinfectant is still a firm favourite. This iconic brand with origins in the 19th Century is favoured by many smallholders for its versatility and even kills the Bird Flu H5N1 virus.
Simply mix 250ml of Jeyes Fluid per 5ltrs of water.

Thank you both. I did search the web first (I wouldn't dare not! even searched this forum first, lol) and there's a variety of dosage instructions out there - but none shown for disinfecting plant pots. 250ml in 5ltr seems too much for my purpose - even at lottie prices I'm paying 2.50 a pint, and I want to use it as economically as possible:money: I was hoping someone would happen to have a can in their cupboard.
Pen pen - lovely to see you, I was wondering 'where' you were, lol. I think my inbox has room, I deleted loads the other weekJanuary '06 Grocery Challenge (4th - 31st) £320.Week 1 - £73.99 Week 2 £5.10 (so far)

Taken From back of can:
Application:
Wash down greenhouse, cold frames, cloches, and seed boxes with 35ml per 5 litres of water. Soak plant pots for 30 mins then rinse off. Do not use on polystyrene. For tools use 10 ml per 5 litres of water. Leave for 5 mins and then rinse off.
Cleaning Water butts:
Prevent a build up of slime in your water butt by cleaning it twice a year. Application: To clean scrub with 15 ml per 5 litres of water. to freshen the water add 5 ml to a full water butt.
HTH

Brilliant - again thank you all. Pots are soaking as we speak. Having rescued over 250 pots that were being thrown at our lottie I think the cost of the jeyes will soon be recouped!January '06 Grocery Challenge (4th - 31st) £320.Week 1 - £73.99 Week 2 £5.10 (so far

Sorry to hi-jack your thread but I hope someone can help. I have a lot of large pots with plants which I covered the top of with permeable material and gravel. I am planning to replace some of the top soil with new compost soon and wondered if I could use Jeyes fluid to wash the gravel with before I put it back If it is safe to do so, what dilution should I use?0
