New fridge freezer standing time before first switch on?

I've just unpacked my new side by side Samsung fridge freezer (US style) and put it in situ in the kitchen. I am aware that you are supposed to leave a fridge freezer to stand a while before switching on for the first time or after moving it etc. I was under the impression that they should be left for 24 hours but after reading online have found many people saying 4 hours. To my surprise, the manual for this fridge freezer states - 'Allow appliance to stand for 2hours after installation.'

Could this be a misprint? I'm dying to turn the thing on and check it's working (has a water dispenser and ice maker) but am confused about conflicting advice. It was carried on it's side to get it in the house so don't want to cause a problem by turning on too soon but the manual doesn't have any warnings about this. Has anyone ever seen a fridge freezer that only needs to stand for 2 hours before first turn on? Could this be an improved system? Any experts on refridgeration on here?!

EDIT: Another thing, I've plumbed in the water to it but when I press in the water dutton no water comes out. Does the fridge freezer need to be switched on for the dispenser to work? I thought it would work under mains pressure. The water is getting into the fridge freezer as far as the water filter as that is full of water but it's not getting to the door's dispenser.

Thanks for any help!

most fridges have the 4/6 hour time limit. the longer the beter, but only if the fridge has been tipped up to get it into your home, i doubt yours has, being a side by side.

i would firstly check there is no kink in the small pipe, especially when it has been pushed back into place. this the most common cause.
have the doors been removed to get it in? if so has the pipe under the door been re fitted.

Hi Premkit, There's no kink in the pipe. I did remove the doors to get it into the kitchen and I refitted the pipes. As I said the water is getting into the fridge as the water filter inside is filling with water. The pipes that run under the front of the doors that feed the dispenser is not filling with water. If I remove the water filter it practically explodes off as I unscrew it as thre is a large build up of water pressure there it seems. However, I am yet to try the dispenser with the appliance switched on so I don't kow if that's the reason?

Maybe there's a solenoid valve blocking the water flow whilst the fridge is unplugged
