Wrong registration on ticket. Stil valid?

Hi folks,

I know Im probably going to be told to go to pepipoo, but Im not a user over there yet, so thought Id post here first.

Hopefully the pictures will work below aswell. Basically, my sisters friend has been given this parking ticket issued by MET parking services, whilst parked in a private car park for a shopping centre. I know having been on the parking fines forum a few times that alot of these private parking firms have no power to demand money, so have told her not to panic too much, but the other thing is that they have noted her registration incorrectly. The last 3 digits of her index are ABC, but it has been recorded on the ticket as ABD. Does this make a difference?

Id appreciate any advice that anyone can give.

First, assuming they are the actual letters, I'd edit your post similar to how I have.

    Ok, usual PPC advice applies.
Do not write/appeal, do not pay, do not reply to any further correspondence.

Plus it's unlikely that they will contact you at all, since they can only trace you from the reg no. via the DVLA, which obviously will not be registered to you.

    Thanks for that. Edited accordingly.

I did tell her that as they dont have her correct registration that they couldnt get in touch with her, but she made the point that they would have CCTV of her car in the car park. If that is infact correct (The car park does have CCTV but unsure as to whether it would have caught her) and they could get her correct details, I was wondering if they would still be able to enforce the ticket as is was initially issued with wrong details. I know this might sound a little silly, but just wanted to give her a 100% right answer.

    Thanks again

The "ticket" isn't enforceable anyway, it's just a request for money from a private company. As they got the wrong reg. no., they'll probably be sending their mickey mouse letters to someone who's never even been in that car park.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

OP, if it's not enforceable anyway, how can a wrong registration number make it less enforceable? It's entirely irrelevant.

Fortunately, however, she probably won't be getting any begging letters from them. But no doubt someone else will!!!
