I would dump my landline in a flash but mobile BB is poor here.

3 are starting to sell a router which allows you to plug in a dongle to essentially make it multi-user.
    Yep - http://ww.three.co.uk/Mobile_Broadband/Huawei_D100_Router

But considering the limits are low as it is you get even less bw if you share it
  • I am also considering getting rid of my landline and relying soley on my mobile. I use virgin for my broadband service, which I'm happy with. Lately, I've not been so sure that I really need a landline anymore.

I'm totally clueless when it comes to internet phone calls ect. :o

Are you referring to Virgin Mobile Broadband? If not, your Virgin broadband service is a landline (although a cable service rather than an ADSL service). You still pay line rental on this.

Sorry, by Virgin do you mean Virgin National (i.e. Virgin ADSL service through your BT line)-as opposed to Virgin Media cable service?

Oh sorry, Virgin Media via cable (used to be NTL)

I'm baffled as to why you have a BT landline as well as a Virgin cable line. You're paying 2 lots of line rental. You already get your broadband via Virgin-why not your phone as well?

I don't use Virgin phone service because I have an Orchid dialler and use Primus and another provider for my telephone calls.

I only pay £10 a month for my broadband service which I haggle every 6 months. I do not have their phone line or TV.

Cheapest Virgin phone and broadband bundle is £25 (£14 +£11 line rental). So if you are paying BT £10.27 line rental+Virgin £10 broadband, it might still be cheaper with Virgin, depending on your phone usage. And of course the Virgin bundle price can also be haggled.

If it is cable and not ADSL broadband then you don't need a phone line for cable broadband, for over 3 years I didn't have a regular phone line, I simply used cable broadband a router and an ATA to attach a DECT phone and used broadband to carry my calls (I still do this now, however I also have a regular landline again as Virgin offered it me free line rental and calls package).
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
