I would recommend going to an independent.

We don't have the choice of the big carpet showrooms where we live unless we travel 50-60 miles. However, we do have an excellend independent who stocks a vast range (hundreds of books) from budget to very superior. Their customer service is second to none (they want your future business), their prices are more reasonable than the biggies plus when you spend over a certain amount all underlay, grippers, delivlery and fitting is included. Their fitters are friendly and helpful and do help move furniture - I doubt if a Allied or Carpet Right do that.

We recently had an en-suite fitted with sheet vinyl. They told us when they were coming and as we have builders in we told them we'd need that room cleared. Unfortunately OH didn't have enough time to clean the floor up before they came (they were a bit early) so they set to and cleaned the floor up for us at no extra charge. I imagine an Allied or Carpet Right fitter would say "It's not in my job description".

Have a look round locally and compare prices and service, you may be pleasantly surprised.

empty your room or you will be charged for the fitters doing it for you. also remember if they fit a carpet with furniture in the room and after a few days it needs stretched they are not obliged to come back and stretch it and you will be charged for this also.
