MBNA have automatically reduced payments to minimum amount!

Watch out - MBNA have automatically reduced your direct debit payments to the minimum amount. So if for example like me you paid off more than the minimum amount in an attempt to reduce your debt -you'll now have to top up your direct debit payments by making one-off payments.-making it more fussy and difficult and so they wager less likely you'll to do it. Scandelous, it should be up to you how much your direct debit is. They say its to help customers during these difficult times?! that makes no sense, the debt will take longer to pay off and they will make more money. I've closed both my MBNA cards (Virgin & A&L).

I can not believe that this is true.    ...............................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0

I expect you could always set up a facility to pay through your bank any amount you want into the credit card account or cancel the direct debit and set up a standing order for what amount suits you
There is no way the company will refuse your payments into the account :wave:0 -
But LAURAS has told us that they will stop you paying by DD for the full amount................................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0

Could have been worst. The OP credit limit could have been reduced to the min payment.0

I still am not convinced that they have done this.    ...............................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0

so cancel it and pay by standing order or through internet banking!!!!!
nothing surprises me nowadays with banks and credit card companies0 -
MBNA used to offer a (customer chosen) static value DD facility alongside the standard full and minimum payment options.
Because some customers overspent and/or didn't manage their accounts properly (resulting in the static amount being less than the minimum required, and meaning missed payment fees were being incurred) MBNA chose to withdraw this static payment DD option.
It's not a problem though (is it?). Just leave the minimum payment on DD and send the extra via SO (or BACS transfer each month when the bill comes and you're doing your monthly budgeting).0 -

She never said the full amount, think she means the only options are the min payment or the full balance by dd with no option of anything between.
My girlfriend was told this so she set up the dd for the min payment AND set up a separate standing order online to make extra payments.0 -
Thanks GlennyNat you are right I did not say anything about MBNA not letting you pay the full amount and was referring to static value DD you set yourself. Robert_Sterling hope you understand this now. In the cases where customers static amount was not covering the minimum payment, surely the solution could have been to take whichever is the greater amount out of the static amount or the minimum payment. Therefore leaving other customers unaffected.0

I do understand it now and your solution in the recent post seem to cover the situation very well indeed.:A...............................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0
