My son won second prize for a model volcano at his school eisteddfod the other day. He's only six and was absolutely delighted. The teacher told me, "We do like to give prizes to the children who obviously made their own models, not the parents."

"Ohhh, errr, yeah. Quite right", I said. I didn't think I'd made that bad a job of it!

Happy St David's Day to everyone.

The daffs aren't even thinking about being up around here  Hey ho. At least Marie Curie charity daffs are available in great numbers. Good thinking, MC's PR department!

By the way, there's another "why is Dewi Sant not celebrated when everyone else is?" thread going on in the MSE Arms - go and add your query and you never know but we might get something NEXT year:rolleyes:
If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!! :D

Now who has the BEST bakestone recipe?? Share it???

My nans were ALWAYS wonderful, never seen or tasted bakestones like hers but she never measured anything. I know she used to use 'Birds golden raising powder' Can you still buy it? - they used to be light & rose well. Hmmm gotta try & make some now, my mouth is watering.

    Recipe anyone?

Shall have to ask my parents. My mum made the mixture but dad cooked them: making welshcakes was a 'dangerous' activity in our house! I suppose all those roaring gas flames & the hot metal was the 60s equivalent of the barbeque today.
