I am a newbie to the site ( it's great) but can somone tell me how to put my own icon on please. I know that I have to do it in profiles....but how??? ???

find the image/gif you require,

if its from the internet right click it n save picture as, save it on ur pc.if its

then you need to upload it to a hosting site ie

http://www.imageshack.us/

once its uploaded it will give you an address. as in

http://www.yourpicture.com

place this address in your profile in the

If it's already on the internet then there's no need to save it and upload it to another site! Just link directly to it.

You can find out the URL of the image easily enough: if using Internet Explorer, right click the image and select properties and copy the address shown into your MSE profile.

isnt linking direct to the site classed as hotlinking, a lot of sites dont like this hence the reason i stated save it 1st and upload to a feebie host sight :-/

It might be - never heard of hotlinking. Another reason to grab the image is if you think it might be moved or deleted.

a good point. I was going to rasie the issue about hotlinked avatars a while back but didn't want to be a spoilsport :-/
