Tempur Memory Foam Pillows -anyone used them?

Options
Hi, Just wondering if anyone has used Tempur memory foam pillows and if they are any good. Am considering buying them to help my posture. They are around £150 for 2 so I dont want to buy them then realise they make no difference. Thanks in advance.

I got "given" two when I moved back in with my parents. I love them! They make falling asleep a pleasure again (along with the tempur mattress). Not sure if they've helped my posture or not though...

I can't sleep on anything else! As above, take a bit of getting used to. Mine is not Tempur, but same idea. What I wonder is, I think you can get these things in, say, B&M bargains. Has anyone tried the really cheap ones?

I got mine through Hotter (the shoe people), it was £55 and there was a nice discount via Quidco. I would try the cheaper ones, if I were replacing, but then I think I know what works.

Colleague at work also likes the Tempur-type mattress.

PS - just checked and Hotter are no longer on Quidco (and Tempur not there)

I was recommended to use a tempur memory foam pillow by a chiropractor, the one with the raised front (almost like a hump) that fits under your neck and supports it. There are two if not more sizes of this pillow and you need the correct one for you.
They also do a traditional looking pillow, which I bought and it was no good at all for me far to flat, not wasted though as it was ideal for my mum who likes a flatter pillow.
I would recommend them without hesitation but you do need the correct one, so have a look maybe on their web site. Depends on how firm you like your pillow etc.

I bought 2 cheaper memory foam pillows and they were nowhere near as good, at least for me; maybe it was because I was used to the Tempur one but I tried one found it no good and it's back in its box after only one nights use, the second one was never taken out of its box, they cost me £20 each and they are still packed up and in my loft.

PM me if you want any advice re the ones you are looking at, I'll try my best to help.

If you look up the Which Report, you'll see that Tempur memory foam was actually rated the lowest of all products tested. For years I wanted a Tempur memory foam pillow, and when I finally got one I didn't get on with it at all.

I have since bought a memory foam mattress and 2 pillows from another brand (sorry can't think which right now, think the site I got it from was something like memory-mattress.co.uk) and they are fabulous. I think just because Tempur are the most marketed and very expensive, doesn't mean they are necessarily the best.

Remember there are all different types of them - from plain 'normal pillow shape' types ones (that's what I had and what I prefer) to all sorts of special shapes for different neck problems.

I stayed in a hotel where they had non-contoured Tempur pillows and found them very comfortable. I considered buying one but decided not to due to the price. I've tried a cheap memory foam pillow and found it didn't squeeze down thin enough for my liking.

The only reason Tempur was last in that Which report was because Which? insisted on using a ridiculous 20-stone hard roller to test their mattresses with. Totally unrealistic test because the roller is too hard. If it wasn't for that silly test, Tempur would have been top.

I agree with what you say about their prices though. Their pricing is a joke. You can find mattresses and pillows which are just as good for a third of the price.

What evidence do you have to support this????

The roller is one of many tests designed to test the durability of the mattress. The tests are actually carried out at FIRA (Furniture Industry Research Association) in Stevenage.

The tests are designed to accellerate wear and tear and simulate what could happen over a long period of time. The only people who have complained about this particular test was Tempur themselves because their mattress split. But they are hardly going to just say "oh well our mattress failed, so it must be rubbish" are they?

All industries use accellerated. For example in electroplating they use a salt spray cabinet to simulate 10 years exposure to the enviroment.
