Did anyone get the "surround sound"? Tried two stores where I live in North Wales, but they had not come in :-(. The CASIO TV was good thought - the kids loved it.

bought the home cinema kit for £29.99 for a friend of mine..... i tested it out though and for the price it is an absolute bargain.... sound quality is good, plays back cdrs and dvdrs, progressive scan, 105 watts is loud enough for most people, even has audio left right and video input, and component input....

also note that you should ask staff if its not on display.... as when i went no clearance items were on display, just a poster on the wall... when i asked at the checkout they said they will get one from out back.....

Does that mean I could in theory stick my XBox 360 into the DVD player and get the sound from the 5.1 speakers?!

If so I'm running down tomorrow morning to see if any are left

no... component is video only, thats why the xbox 360 will have another output, like optical out or 2 rca [phono] outputs.... the kit has 2 rca inputs for left and right audio, and rca video input and component input.... unfortunately i have packed it away now, but not sure if the device will convert the 2 rca input signals to 5.1 digital.....

but u could buy it and give it back if its no good to you....

Thanks for the tip. Went in yesterday lunchtime and nothing on display, bought some cakes and at the tills there was a pile behind the guy. I asked if they had any systems in stock and he said No. I said what are they behind you then and he said they were returns (what, they were only on sale two hours ago), but was in a hurry so didn;t fight back. But will get back in there this afternoon I think and see what happens.

But, what's the point of a big expenses campaign only to have stock there that they are holding back?. Beggars belief.

Tried several Aldis in the area but no luck for surround sound. However, went to ASDA yesterday and they have reduced their surround sound to £29.99 form £34.99. It does not include a DVD player, but connects to your existing one. In fact it is a nice piece of kit.

It is a stand-alone system unlike a lot of them that work through the DVD. This means it can be connected to a DVD, Sat Box, PC or just about anything with the common red and white phono outputs.
