Until you come to update your kitchen and find that their units are NON standard size.

Homebase / B&Q / Wickes / Howdens all do standard size units.

And then buy the updates from Ikea as well.

I know people are recommending them but Ikea isn't exactly a mid-priced kitchen to me and it's not mid-priced quality either.

  • I love my B&Q white gloss units - have had them for over two years and they still look like new. I have two children (6 & 8 years old when I bought the kitchen units) who are always in the kitchen helping, colouring or getting up to mischief!! I read loads of reviews that said they would scratch badly, show loads of marks etc... but a quick wipe with a dishcloth and washing up liguid solution every week or so keeps them looking pristine.... I really recommend them. Also if you buy B&Q units it's easy to change the doors if you fancy a colour change - they often have really good sales prices on their kitchen doors....

only b+q howdens have what is regards as standard size units. 720mm
    wickes are 735mm
    homebase are 705mm

if you keep to a 720 high unit/door you will have more choice when it comes to revamp in 7+ years.
the best of the rest is wickes for allround quality.
