Ticketed during X-Factor show AECC Aberdeen

A friend attended the recent X-Factor show at the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre & rather than use the centre's jam-prone carpark, parked on Intown Road in the nearby industrial estate.
It was getting dark & they did not see any sign of lines when parking but returned to a ticketed car. On closer inspection, vestigal remains of double yellows were apparent:

After that, they went looking for signs & found an "at any time" sign further up the road.

The ticket follows:

Yes, the attendant's initials are that smudged/illegible.

What would be the best way to proceed with a challenge to this?
My guess would be the worn-out lines but if there are any more specific points or references to legislation or other advice, we would be greatful.
Thanks.

There is a no parking "At Any Time" sign right next to the car though?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
That was further up the road - only found when looked for.0

It looks about 3 metres away from the car just stuck on the fence behind it shining in the moonlight as clear as anything.
I can't see how anyone could claim to have not seen it. He must have driven quite slowly right past it when pulling up?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

Possibly the worst set of lines you'll ever see(or not). Expect Neil to be rubbing his hands here. Maybe the fine is to pay for some more paint.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Sadly not the only set like that round here - I didn't see the lines that ran down one side of my road for a decade or so till they repainted them recently.0 -
Considering how desperate for money Aberdeen City Council is right now, I'd say you've got very little chance of getting out of the fine, tbh

100% hindsight is a wonderful thing eh? Either way, they missed it.
My point is though how does he expect to get out of the ticket when his photographic evidence clearly shows him parked directly next to a "no parking" sign luminously glowing in the moonlight for all to see?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

As I understand it DYL lines do not need a plate to tell you no parking, its inplicit. You can't have parking between certain times with DYL's(except seasonable). If this is correct then having invisible DYL's would not lead you to look for a plate would it? Wait for other more knowledgeable persons to answer this to be sure.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Did you read the OP at all?
It is glowing in the light of a moderately powerful photo flash BTW, otherwise Intown Road is pretty badly lit - Most lighting is on the main road, not this bypassed stretch that now services the back of an estate.0
