life asurance/funeral plan???

hi my mum reaches 50 in september and is intending to make provisions for funeral plans.but is unsure what would be best? she can afford about a tenna a month and idearly would like to leave us kids something rarther than just paying for funeral. can any one offer any advice because i just havent got a clue
