Nomad25, if you have any questions about the TalkTalk service or want any more information give me a nudge.

I have been a T/T customer for 5+ yrs and have had their Broadband for over 4 yrs. I am having regular probs trying to "sign on" to my Internet Banking website. I regularly get disconnected when I try. I have spoken to my bank, and have done all they have told me to do. and T/T who tell me my router(not a T/T supplied one) is at fault. I disagree as it connects me to the Internet and all other sites, and only acts up when I try to access the secure page for my Internet Bank. I spent 25 mins on phone to T/T yesterday and am becoming very frustrated at getting nowhere. I firmly believe my prob lies with my ISP - TalkTalk. I have threatened to move ISP. I am generally happy with the phone package. It is just this one aspect of my Broadband which is the problem. I would be grateful for any help or suggestions you might have. Thanks.0 -

Not sure what an IVR is, but I don't think the headmaster of my local primary school is one or would have a requirement to do this. I'm sure he was answering calls as they came in.
Unfortunately, the Talktalk person I spoke to told me I had reached voicemail each time which I hadn't. They then tried the school number and got voicemail. This was not surprising as the school was closed at the time (Friday afternoon @ 1600).
No matter - I've since switched my calls to another provider. Bye bye Talktalk and good riddance!0 -

Hi Shalis,
Is it just secure sites you are having problems accessing such as the Bank? What router are you currently using? Are you able to amend the MTU on the router? TalkTalk recomend an MTU of 1432 - if you know how to amend this on your router its worth a go as this can affect access to secure sites. If not then its probably worth you registereing at https://www.talktalkmemebers.com/forums where someone will be able to help you configure the router correctly.

It is only my own Internet banking site causing problems. For instance my daughter can access hers on line(not the same bank) via my computer with no difficulties. My router is a Creative Broadband Blaster DSL 8133U-C1. It was set at 1500 bytes when we checked it. A friend (good with computers) re-set it to 1420 two days ago but a short time later when we checked again it was back to 1500. He concluded that this is the speed set by T/T to get me out on to the Internet. It would seem to me now that the problem is something to do with this, but surely a new router is not going to solve the problem.
Thanks for your prompt response.

Hi Shalis,
I'm not familiar with that router - could you possibly register on the TTMF forums on the link in my last post so we can help out and get a little more detail?
Cheers

I used to be with IDNet, and I can recommend them wholeheartedly. They're a great company with wonderfully personal customer service.0

I have clicked on the T/T forum link you show, several times now, and cannot bring the page up. I just get a window saying "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". Perhaps there is a problem with the link? Getting really fed up now.0 -

I have now managed to re-set my Router MTU as suggested. A matter of now waiting to see if the problem is resolved. Fingers crossed. Thanks to all concerned.
