Have just switched! - still need advice pls

Hello

I am reviewing all my expenses and decided to have a look at my gas and electricity.
Last year I spent £350 on Electricity and £500 on Gas.
Was with EDF and just noticed today, 2 hrs ago infact, as I was going through the bills that they have signed me up as 2 standard tariffs rather than 1 cheaper Dual Fuel.
I called them and they said that I am not entitled to a rebate because is my responsability to check the bills
Are they right, or are they trying to wriggle out of it??

Then went to a few comparisons site and got mixed reviews as 1/2 said Npower were cheaper and 1/2 said British Gas. As Cashback from them on Quidco is around £70 just signed up online for the WebSaver 2 Tariff. I hope this is the cheapest for me as off the comparison site they claimed to 'save' me £180 a year.

Hope all goes well, I am a bit apprehensive as I am a newby at switching without moving home.

Have I done the right thing or should I have done/could still do something better??

Many thanks to you all

What did you enter on the comparison website - your spend in ££££s or the annual consumption in kWh?

Only with the latter will you get an accurate figure.

ohh, I did it by cost not KWH used! Of course with the 50/50 chance I used the wrong one there!

Will try and use the comparison site again and see how much difference it makes, many thanks for replying :o

Whatever happens you are going to be saving some money by moving away from those standard tariffs, the only thing is that the websaver tariff has cancelation fees if you want to leave before the end of the year so if a cheaper tariff does come along you are a bit stuck
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
