Can I re-sell my contact lenses

Ok I didn't know where to list this question so I hope this is OK. It is kinda ebay related so,

Can I re-sell my daily contact lenses? I have a draw full of them. I sign up to specsavers lensmail (£8 a month for 9 months of the year) and they send them to me and give me free eye tests and stuff. If I stop the direct debit it would cost me more to have an eye-test and check up and buy the odd box of lenses. My prescription is fairly common (-2.25 and -2.50) so I guess a lot of other people would wear these. I can't see any lenses on ebay though....

Any info appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure its illegal to sell contact lenses unless your an authorised official Optician type thing. However you SHOULD be able to take your lenses back to Specsavers for a refund. I did a week or so ago when I cancelled my lensmail scheme. Have you heard of daysoft? Google it, they sell 32 pairs of daily disposables for £9.98, and you just buy as and when. Might be of interest to you.
  • I hadn't heard of daysoft, thats a good price, I'll have a look. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you can't sell anything like that especially on ebay unless you are authorised to do so as they are prescription only products. Even when buying lenses from an online store they can ask for a copy of your prescription from a proper optometrist. Check the ebays sellers T&Cs anyway.

You could however, if the boxes are unopened, contact an online retailer explaining your situtation and see if they will buy them off you? Who knows!

I know! I was amazed when I found it, hence why I cancelled my specsavers £10/month plan. I don't wear these dailies every day anyway, so its basically the same price per year, if not cheaper, even including the £20 I'll probably have to pay when I need my prescription renewing. I was having trouble with my monthlies anyway, and couldn't be bothered messing around with solutions twice a day. I'm impressed thus far, I'm wearing them now and they're probably more comfortable than my specsavers dailies. I don't work for daysoft btw! I'm just impressed.
